The second Student Exchange Programme of the academic year, Twinning between India and France, had an eventful start with eighteen students and five teachers, including the Principal, Mr. Alan Payen, from College Jean Renoir, Bourges, France, visiting our school from 8 to 18 February, 2014. They stayed with our students and enjoyed the tightly packed activities specially arranged for them. The activities included visits to tourism destinations like Munnar and Alappuzha backwaters, and places of historical interest. Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Toonz Animations at The Technopark, Kottoor Elephant Sanctuary etc were also in the list. They got flabbergasted by the spectacular show arranged by our students for the Annual Day Celebrations. A tearful adieu was given to them on 18 February at the Trivandrum Airport.
On 15 May 2014, we made a return visit to College Jean Renoir, with their eighteen counterparts, the Principal, Rev Fr Cyriac Thundiyil, and two teachers. Our stay in France was made comfortable by their extreme hospitality and kindness. The students stayed with their partners in the host families. Several activities were arranged which included visits to the magnificent Bourges Cathedral, castles and a two-day visit to Paris. Our students also made a journey through Switzerland, exclusively arranged by our school. The group made their return journey on 28 May with a heavy heart.
The cultural exchange was inevitably a revitalizing experience for the students as they got to know a bit of the culture and living of the French people. The project is continuing and will attain fruition with two different groups of students from both the schools getting engaged in the exchange in the coming academic year.
